FAQ: Canon’s Free 1-year Adobe Creative Cloud Promotion

We have gotten many questions about Canon’s current promotion, where they’re offering a free 1-year subscription to Adobe Creative Cloud Photography Plan with purchase of select camera bodies. We answer the most common questions below.

What is the promotion? When you purchase a brand new EOS 7D Mark II, EOS 6D, or EOS 5D Mark III camera from a Canon USA authorized dealer between July 5th and October 3rd, you get two free 1-year Memberships. A free 1-year Membership in Adobe Creative Cloud Photography plan (Photoshop + Lightroom) and a free 1-year Membership in KelbyOne online training.

Are street price or bundle purchases eligible? Yes, if you make a purchase from a Canon USA authorized dealer via street price or with a printer bundle deal, you are also eligible for the promotion.

How do I redeem for the free subscriptions? After receiving your camera in the mail, you’ll need to fill out an online claim form. You’ll need the serial number from the camera, as well as a scan or image of your sales receipt. There’s no mail-in necessary, just fill out the form, upload the receipt image, and you will receive redemption codes for the free subscriptions by e-mail — within 1-2 days, according to readers.

What if I already have, or do not want Adobe Creative Cloud Photography Plan? Our readers report that the redemption code can be used to extend an existing subscription by an additional 12 months. Given that this costs $9.99/month regularly (or $99.88 if purchased one year at a time), it’s still considerable value. If you really don’t want to use it, you can give the redemption code to a friend (although the terms do say that it’s not transferrable, nothing stops you from doing it.)

If you purchase something through a link on our site, we may get a small share of the sale (at no cost to you). Please read our disclosure for more info.

And good luck dealing with Adobe if you try to upgrade from the Photography plan to the full suite, it wasn’t encouraging when I talked with an Adobe rep

Interesting. They just didn’t know how to deal with it? I assume you didn’t already have a subscription of any kind prior to using the free one?

I have no subscription… but was considering the camera with photo subscription and chatted with their online rep and since its throufh an outside vendor they implied is have to be paying the full cost of the plan and no prorate of the time already bought.

Got the Adobe deal with purchase of 6D. They processed it in less than 24hrs.Still can’t figure out which guides are available on KelbyOne. All of the ones I tried are not available. Emailed them last week and still no response.

When in KelbyOne, click in the upper right hand corner on your login name. It will bring up a menu. Click on My Learning Libraries. The available videos will show up. There are only 17.
