Another year, another countdown: our tradition is to countdown the most popular Canon gear at the end of the year. We compiled statistics via our street price program as well as through our posted deals (new and refurbished), and we ranked by number sold. You can compare with 2024, 2023, 2022, 2021, 2020, 2019, 2018, 2017 and 2016’s list.
This year’s list features a surprising #1 and #2!
- EOS R7
The EOS R7 hangs on one more year, falling one spot to the #10 position. It continues to sell well as Canon’s spiritual successor to the EOS 7D Mark II, aided by some great refurbished sales, although rumors abound about a replacement in early 2026.
- RF 100-500mm f/4.5-7.1L IS USM
Dropping to #9 from #5 last year, the RF 100-500mm remains one of Canon’s most popular super-telephoto zooms. Its versatile focal range and excellent image quality continue to make it a favorite among wildlife and sports photographers. While it’s slid down the rankings as newer gear grabs attention, demand for this lens remains steady and shows no real signs of slowing.
- RF 28-70mm f/2.8 IS STM
Making its debut at #8, the RF 28-70mm f/2 STM is the first of three non-L lenses to appear in this year’s top 10. Affordable yet capable, it’s a versatile option for shooters on a budget. Its strong showing may hint at a subtle shift in the RF lens market, with value-oriented options gaining traction alongside Canon’s premium glass.
- RF 24-70mm f/2.8L IS USM
The RF 24-70mm f/2.8L IS USM comes in at #7 this year. Still a go-to standard zoom for many photographers, demand has softened as a large portion of the market already owns one and as Canon’s newer RF 24-105mm f/2.8L Z has pulled some buyers away. Even so, it remains a core professional lens and a fixture in many RF kits.
- RF 70-200mm f/2.8L IS USM
Climbing to #6 from #10 last year, the original RF 70-200mm f/2.8L saw a resurgence thanks largely to aggressive pricing and frequent deals throughout the year. While the newer RF 70-200mm f/2.8L IS USM Z is clearly the long-term successor, strong value on the original version made it an appealing buy for many shooters. Whether this was a final surge or simply a pricing-driven bump remains to be seen.
- RF 24-105mm f/4L IS USM
Rising to #5 from #7, the RF 24-105mm f/4L continues to be a popular choice for first-time full-frame RF shooters. Its versatility and solid performance make it a common companion to new bodies, and its climb this year reflects strong demand in the full-frame mirrorless market.
- EOS R6 Mark II
Falling to #4 from last year’s #1, the EOS R6 Mark II likely felt the impact of the recently released R6 Mark III. Still, strong deals throughout the year helped keep it in high demand, proving that this versatile, full-frame mirrorless remains a solid choice for many photographers.
- EOS R5 Mark II
Landing at #3, the EOS R5 Mark II didn’t quite hit our prediction of #1 or #2. Still, it remains a top-tier choice for pros and enthusiasts alike, with upgraded autofocus, improved burst speeds, and enhanced video features keeping it highly desirable.
- RF 200-800mm f/6.3-9 IS USM
Another debut on the list, the RF 200-800mm takes #2 and is the second of three non-L lenses to make the top 10. Offering incredible reach and versatility at a great value, it proved very popular this year, helped by plentiful deals and improved supply. This lens has finally caught up with demand, making it a go-to choice for wildlife and sports shooters seeking a budget-friendly super-telephoto.
- RF 100-400mm f/5.6-8 IS USM
For the first time ever, a non-L lens takes the top spot: the RF 100-400mm f/5.6–8 IS USM. Its incredible value and versatility made it a runaway favorite, with photographers snapping it up through both street price and refurb deals all year. Lightweight and portable for its focal range, it’s perfect for wildlife, sports, and travel photography. Will it stay here next year? Probably not! Expect new releases and updated lenses to shake up the top of the list in 2026.
